Luz Blumenfeld (they/them) is an interdisciplinary artist, writer, educator, and listener with a background in Early Childhood Education. Third generation Chicane from Oakland, California, they currently live and work in Portland, Oregon. They hold a Master of Arts in Contemporary Art Practices with a concentration in Art and Social Practice from Portland State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from California Institute of Integral Studies.  

In 2024, their second book, I Learn A Lot By Asking Questions was published by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr School Museum of Contemporary Art (KSMoCA) Press.  Their first book, More and More Often, was published in 2023. Luz’s work has been exhibited both locally and internationally. They were recently awared a Portland Arts Projects Grant from the Regional Arts and Culture Council in Portland, Oregon.

Luz’s practice is sincerely grounded in the expansive methodologies of research, relationship to site, and collection and curation. Their work explores concepts of memory, home, play, and care through materials such as soundscapes, publications, interactive sculptures, scores, and more.
